The idea that math is cold and inhuman is a bit shocking for me. I know that math has a reputation of being difficult, but to be call inhuman and cold really shows how much the idea of math has come. The fact math was seen as only for a small elite group really show why math has the bad reputation today. The lack of a defined math curriculum that people could agree on only seemed to extend this bad reputation. This did not allow the perception of math to heal. It was surprising that there was so much controversy around what math to teach and how to teach it. With math unlike any other subject there never seems to be a complete agreement on what to teach. With science it is broken into chemistry, biology and physics. With math it seem it would be best if it was split up into more subjects. I dont know how surprising this should be to me as the math curriculum is still changing. For math to improve its reputation it needs to become more constant.
